The Underlying Reason Behind Entrepreneurs Giving Up

Published on:

The reasons why people are giving up are complex. However, there is one reason they all have in common.

Why do people give up? Have you ever asked yourself that question? “Why do I give up”? If you have a habit of giving up on your goals and dreams or if you’re considering to give up on something in your life – continue reading! Don’t give up on this article.

A New Kind Of Hope

The purpose of this article is to infuse a new kind of hope within you so that you may pursue the things in the world that were meant to be for you. That each day you will continue to believe in yourself even when everything around you is begging you to give up and settle.

The people who dare to believe and pursue their dreams need to possess a certain kind of faith and resilience that is uncommon. I think these are two major factors that separate people who believe and pursue their dreams from the people who don’t. Why should you continue when nobody else thinks you should? Why should you continue when all your resources are depleted? This is usually the breaking point for most people. This is when most people give up – when people tell them they can’t do it and when all their resources are gone.

Entrepreneurial Breaking Points

From Thomas Alva Edison to modern-day entrepreneurs like Elon Musk – they all reached these breaking points. Thomas Edison’s teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything.” He was fired from his first two jobs for being “non-productive.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb.

Musk was already deemed successful when he launched SpaceX in 2002. However, six years later, following three failed launches for his flagship rocket, his prospects looked grim. He was down to his last $75 million, says The Telegraph, which is a fortune for many startups, but considering the rockets at the time cost approximately $90 million to build – and he was the sole funder of SpaceX at the time – another launch failure would have likely meant financial ruin.

Seeing Beyond The Storm

Both Edison and Musk had a clear picture of the future – their vision of their currently failing projects gave them the endurance to continue working. Edison saw a vision of working light bulbs and Musk saw successful rocket launches. These entrepreneurs not only had focus but they had vision. Most people today give up because they can’t see hope for their future. So, the underlying reason behind giving up is not being able to look beyond the storm. Too many people are focused on the storm and fail to see the coming calm sea. Life is full of trials and disappointments that will constantly test you to see what you’re really made of. And life will reward those who persevere and endure towards their vision.
