We take everything you love about farmers‘ markets – the local, seasonal, handpicked and handcrafted products that you can‘t find anywhere else – and deliver it to your doorstep.

Why did you decide to pursue your own dreams rather than someone else’s?

When you spend your day working on an issue that you deeply care about, your job no longer feels like work. Each day is challenging in a different way, and you always go home feeling rewarded. Everyone in our team at Bonativo truly cares about food, the environment, and animal welfare. We feel very lucky to work at a place that is pushing to move the world in a better direction.

In 7 years from now: How did your startup change the world?

We will have created a strong network of local food communities. Consumers and producers will be directly linked and work together to maintain high standards of animal welfare, protect the environment, and consume products that are both seasonal and regional.

In what ways do you measure your success and how do you make sure you don’t lose track?

Fortunately we are surrounded by a strong community of people who are rethinking the way people eat. Statistics show that an increasing number of consumers are looking further over the edge of their plate and demand to know where their food comes from. Too many times have we been shaken by scandals in the food industry, so it’s quite obvious that there is only one direction to go: back to basics. Quality over quantity. You can’t loose track if you’re on a mission.

Describe your typical working day from coming to the office to leaving it.

Every day at Bonativo is different. That’s what makes it great and challenging. Everything from visiting a local farm, to a foodshooting to delivering a bag of groceries to a your home. But what is common for each day, is that I get to work with inspiring producers and motivated colleagues.

Already pivoted? Did customers use the delivery like you imagined it in the beginning?

We have established a solid costumer base who are excited about the large variety of products we are offering, and discover the faces and stories behind each of them. What makes our model unique for the customer is the convenience of having excellent quality food at your disposal without having to consider a particular day or location of a farmer’s market.

Bootstrapped or financed: What fuels your startup now and what will in the future?

We are supported by a strong network who believe in the mission of Bonativo.

With ferocious competition and a booming trend to build new companies: How do you make sure you don’t get lost in the shuffle?

Our visibility is growing every day, because we are part of an important conversation and we love what we do.

What do you look for in team members?

Our Bonativo Family is a bunch of passionate, driven, world improvers. Skills in the kitchen are also a good asset.

Why would a talent join your team?

Working with Bonativo gives you a lot of liberty, in whatever field it is you’re working on. We all push for one mission, and each is in charge of their own craft. It’s a tremendous opportunity for growth, both personal and professional. If you don’t like micromanagement and predcitablity, this might be a good fit.

What was your most memorable moment so far?

The entire journey from organizing the launch with a handful of people, to having a community of 50 across 3 offices has been an incredible adventure. One of the most memorable moments was when we invited several of our producers for drinks and food and really got to know them on a personal level. Their feedback and excitement about our partnership and our mission proved that we’re on the right track.

What advice would you give fellow founders for their startup?

Read less, do more.
