We spoke to Tamara Abdulrida at NEWOLDSTAMP, a Lviv-based startup reinventing email signature. Read how email marketing will change in the near future:

How would you describe NEWOLDSTAMP in a few words?

We help professionals and businesses to use their email signature as a marketing channel to drive traffic and growth.

NEWOLDSTAMP Creates Interactive Email Signatures For ProfessionalsWhat inspired you to create the signature generator? How did it all start?

Our founder had a different idea for an email marketing tool when he found out that his contacts weren’t even using their email signature properly. So he came up with a simple free email signature editor. When more sign-ups were coming in every day, we started adding more and more features and now, we are launching the newest version of the editor in October.

Are you using NEWOLDSTAMP internally? How does that affect the viewpoints of the team?

Even though we promoted our product as a very effective marketing channel, at some point we realized that we could do a lot more with our email signatures than we were doing at the time. So our employees describing to users how to use email signature to sell more or gain followers has made us focus more on our own email campaigns.

As a company, having an email signature is a given. In what ways is an interactive signature an advantage, in your opinion?

Imagine receiving an email with some basic info like the person’s name and company name. You’re not sure if you’re interested in what they are offering you, or whether to trust the company. You could open a new tab in your browser and start doing research, right? This means you will have to spend a lot of time searching for information you are not even sure you need.

If you look at it from the sender’s side, you want to make it as easy as possible for your reader to see that you’re 1. a professional 2. reliable and 3. what you have to offer. An interactive email signature does that for you.

But the main benefit is that it gives you an additional marketing channel. You can create banner campaigns draw attention to your product or event, grow followers, and track and measure the results.

(Automated) Email marketing is gaining pace again – where do you see the trend going? What innovations will hit emails?

Email is still alive and growing. It’s still one of the main channels for our everyday communication and business needs. All transactional triggers and actions are confirmed by emails, we read them all the time even after work. I think email messages will become more targeted and personalized as we gain more data. This will mean more relevant emails and less spam.

What is the most memorable moment throughout the history of NEWOLDSTAMP?

That’s definitely the day we got our first paying user. When we started out, we grew from 10 sign ups to 50 sign ups a day in just a couple of weeks. After a month, we got our first payment and realized the product has value and there’s a market for it. This was also the moment we realized that we have something good here that we need to develop and grow.

If there is one thing you could wish for in improving the European startup ecosystem – what would it be?

Some startups tend to be very closed off and almost secretive. There should be more communication, collaboration, and more networking. If startups start combining efforts, share ideas, and help each other instead of keeping them to themselves, we can actually learn from each other and make new things happen. That’s why a platform like StartUs is great to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs.

What’s one piece of advice you can give to fellow founders for their startup?

Try to launch and start selling as soon as possible. If it works out, you will be able to develop your product and grow quickly. Don’t spend years working on something and perfecting it only to find out it’s useless or there’s no market for it.
