Vienna-Based Primed Mind Unlocks Potential To Boost Performance

Published on:

Fedor Holz is widely regarded as one of the best poker players in the modern era and currently 5th in the world for all time money list. To us, he spoke about his new venture Primed Mind, the coaching app that helps him perform on a higher level.

How would you describe Primed Mind in a few words?

Primed Mind is an immersive mindset coaching app to help you unlock your full potential. Within 5-10 minute long primers by world-famous mindset coach Elliot Roe, you will feel more prepared for whatever challenge might be ahead of you.

What inspired you to create the coaching app? How did it all start?

I’ve been working together with Elliot for over 2 years now and had tremendous success with him in my personal career. We at Primed are constantly looking for ways to challenge and help people grow and spreading Elliot’s knowledge that has boosted the performance of countless of top-performers in various different areas was an idea that we instantly became passionate about. We started creating the concept end of 2016 and formed the company in early 2017.

You’re considered one of the best poker players in the world with 16.82m EUR in winnings. As you mention, the focus is one of the most important traits – in business and in life. How did Primed Mind support you in gaining focus?

The voice behind Primed Mind has specifically helped me prepare for most of the important tournaments I played recently. His input made me perform on a higher level and to stay concentrated for a longer duration. That’s exactly what he does – putting you “in the zone” so that you can focus harder and longer.

Coaching is a very individual matter: people often think they don’t have enough time for it, simply don’t see the point in talking to a stranger, or are ambiguous when it comes to neuroscience. In what ways is your app tailored to this need and what are the benefits for users?

With Primed Mind we are developing a product that supports you depending on your needs. Whether you want to perform better at your job, in sports or you just want to get more out of every day. With hundreds of iterations for every tape, a strong bond to our users and cooperation with experts in lots of fields we make sure to listen to what our users like and need and improve our content and product constantly.

With numerous coaching apps on the market – what makes Primed Mind stand out of the crowd? What is the key differentiator?

The substantial difference between our app and others on the market is the quality of content. Our highest priority is to make sure that in the long term we can create an individualized mindset coach in your pocket for each and every challenge you face to improve your performance. With Elliot as our coach and years of experience and education, we constantly ensure the highest level of quality.

Are you using the app internally? How does that affect the viewpoints of the team?

Most of us regularly use the app, everyone in their individual way. We just created a special “Primed Room” where you can find a quiet and comfortable space to listen to Elliot’s voice and recharge your batteries if needed. It’s awesome to see how the whole team is passionate about Primed Mind and the positive impact it has.

What is the biggest challenge that the company has faced?

The biggest challenge we’ve faced is the on-boarding process. Whenever we take the time to explain the app with our words to a new user and they can feel the passion we share and the positive impact it had in our lives, it’s way more likely that they’ll use the app in the right setting with the right mindset and become a regular user. If that’s not the case, people might listen to it in the wrong setting, for example with open eyes in the bus and the effect just won’t be the same at all.

What’s next for Primed Mind?

We currently working on a new restructured version to better explain how to use it to new users and why it’s impactful as well as implementing more personalized features. The app will then respond to individual needs and improve the user experience by being more guided and more responsive. We also want to strengthen the outreach, cooperate with strong partners in e-sports, chess, business, sales and more to reach more people that can highly benefit from our content.

If there is one thing you could wish for in improving the European startup ecosystem – what would it be?

Being based in Vienna, Austria, one of the main things I’d wish for is an easier and more flexible system – in almost everything. Whether that’s founding companies, accounting or taxes, I believe that the current system doesn’t fit very well with the pace the current world economy is moving at. Other examples would be investments in other European countries and visas for foreigners to work in Austria. To me, there seems to be huge potential to be a forerunner, increase the growth and create lots of opportunities.

What’s one piece of advice you can give to fellow founders for their startup?

The team is everything. It’s been said countless times, but that doesn’t make it less true. To me, there is no higher priority than finding the fitting people for the specific team and project, but at the same time to constantly keep growing as a team – and as individuals. Besides that, I’d mention the network, which is part of the “team” in some way too. Meet as many new interesting people as you can and keep looking for mutually beneficial relationships. I’m a strong believer in a strong network being the main key to success.
