Varna Startup City Guide

This time we’ll guide you through a startup city you may not have heard of yet: Varna. Varna is located in northern Bulgaria, right by the coast of the black sea – if that doesn’t sound like a place you’d love to work at I don’t know what is. But not only the sea makes this upcoming city attractive for young entrepreneurs. Varna is the center of Bulgaria when it comes to business and education; perfect circumstances to found your business in an environment with a thriving startup community, lots of co-working spaces and funding opportunities. Check out our Startup City Guide for further infos!

StartUs Presents

Four new startups in our interview pot, time to get in now!

First up is Portadi, a cloud access panel for apps & online accounts that you use in the workplace every day. The service simplifies the process of signing in to different apps & helps managing them.
Aleksandar Sabo, CEO of Agro Mreza, spoke to us about Silos, a software based solution aimed at agricultural enterprises to help them deal with their everyday business processes and tasks.
Looking for a service you can volunteer at? Dominik Beron, founder of Alltagshelden.social, explains how their startup enables people and companies to use their skills for a good cause by connecting them with organizations in need of professional support.
Pikkpack is footwear designed by Sara Gulyas. She talks about how the gadget fits inside an envelope, how you can create it yourself and even how the wearer can transform it into a 3D piece of clothing!

Articles You’ll Enjoy Reading

This week has brought articles helpful from the beginning of your startup to executing ideas.

Let’s start with the experience one of our authors shares: Luca’s telling you how he screwed up his startup dream and what you can learn from his mistakes.
Mistakes are also made setting up events for your startup. Here’s how to avoid them & how to promote your event like a rockstar! But not only events can drive engagement towards your company – live streaming apps like Meerkat and Periscope also can. Read up on how you can learn from big firms & implement the ideas into your marketing tactics.
We already featured 2 design thinking articles, which you can find here. The one we published this week, is about some tools the technique offers. We take you from cultural probes to desktop walkthrough. Learn more about the toolbox & stay tunes for upcoming ones!

And What About StartUs?

StartUs Connect Event Page

So, by now you know that StartUs regularly hosts events in the European startup community. What is new, is that now we don’t only inform you about them via Facebook and Twitter but also our brand new event page connect.startus.cc! Find out more about upcoming events, speakers who will share their experience, our partners and – this is especially awesome – how you can become a host yourself!

StartUs Connect 6.0 Vienna

Speaking of events: we’re overwhelmingly happy to announce StartUs Connect Vienna 6.0 on October 22nd. Now, it may seem that this is a regular event when in fact it’s not. This event will be special for us because we celebrate the first birthday of StartUs! Since our launch last October a lot of things happened, a lot has changed and it all turned out very well so far! But we don’t want to disclose too much, only so much for now: we’re going to have prominent speakers who will talk about the following topics:

  • Startup Financing
  • Startup Mentoring
  • Startup Success Story

Make sure to check for updates on the speakers and grab your FREE ticket here!

Headline Of The Week

This spot is reserved for our headline of the week. It’s a phrase you can add to your StartUs profile to give people an impression what you’re all about.
As always this week’s headline was chosen by our staff out of the 8000+ profiles online.

“Do it as good as you can or don’t do it at all.” by Alina Pomozova.

That’s it for this week, see you next week & have a good one!
