Fempreneurs! Here’s What To Expect From Female Founder Summit 2017

Published on:

The first Female Founder Summit in Switzerland took place in 2016 in Zurich with over 300 guests – 50% founders, 25% future founders and 25% investors and startup support representatives. This year, it's time to top these numbers!

Women are a competitive factor in our economies. More balanced teams create more capital efficiency, ROI, and revenues. Decisions become long-term focused, hence focused on sustainability. Launched in 2016, Female Founder Summit helps encourage more women to become entrepreneurs and also to team up with existing all-male teams and supports women in finding access to networks, mentors, and capital.

International Speakers & 80% Female Attendees

On Monday, November 6, the second edition of the event will be held at the Kunsthaus in Zurich, Switzerland. Of the expected 300+ attendees, around 80% are women – female founders from Europe, Asia, and Africa. Other attendees include startup support organizations, international investors as well as corporate venturing and government representatives.

For the Summit, four key topics are established:

  • Rising Asia – opportunities for entrepreneurs in the markets of the future
  • Future technologies that will change our everyday lives
  • Economic impact of women entrepreneurs
  • Ventures that make a difference

The program ranges from keynotes, panel discussions, to networking and a pitching event. So far, the list of confirmed speakers include:

  • Trudi Haemmerli, Member of the Board, Innosuisse and Commission Member, Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI
  • Soo Boon Koh, Founder & Managing Partner, Singapore, iGlobe Partners
  • Barbara Fischer, Founding Partner, Arena Ventures
  • Christina Kehl, Board Member & Managing Director, Swiss Finance Startups
  • Christina Töpfer, Country Manager Switzerland, Book a Tiger
  • Christian K. Winkler, Principal, btov Partners

For investors attending the Summit, there’s another perk: the Female Founder Pitches at Villa Tobler. In total, 10 entrepreneurs will pitch their startups, including:

Following Four Core Goals

With the event series, Female Founder Summit follows its core goals: Encouragement, Networks, Mentors, Capital. Creating more public attention and visibility for female founders and their success stories as well as advertise role models to encourage women to follow an entrepreneurial path is one of the core missions Carole Hofmann and Lina Bee had in mind when first hosting the event. A crucial way to educate fempreneurs about networks, startup support organizations, and investors is, of course, connecting women to existing teams – including all-male teams. This is aimed at building up competencies and access networks, know-how, and capital.

Bringing more Venture Capital into Switzerland, open access to deal flow for foreign players as co-investors and to allocate more and bigger tickets – for early stage and growth stage funding to build larger companies is another main mission of Female Founder Summit.

Fempreneurs looking for new opportunities as well as to meet founders, investors, venture capitalists, business angels, corporate venturing and startup support representatives, can also attend the Networking Cocktail as part of the Summit. To register for the event visit Female Founder Summit.
