Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition Invites CEE-based Startups to an Intensive, 2-Week Program

Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition is designed for thriving CEE-based manufacturing startups & scaleups to discover and explore the city’s industry and startup ecosystem. Up to 10 startups will be invited to Vienna & receive an additional two months of business coaching. Don’t miss out & apply by 11 October!

The EIT Manufacturing Co-Location Center East and the Vienna Business Agency have designed a new program for startups and scaleups in the manufacturing industry in Central and Eastern Europe – Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition.

Through the program, EIT Manufacturing CLC East and the Vienna Business Agency give up to 10 startups from Central and Eastern European countries the chance to participate in a two-week intensive program in the Austrian capital.

From 3 – 16 November 2021, young founders will be invited to Vienna to explore the domestic industry scene and the local startup ecosystem. During the stay, the program will contain networking opportunities with other startups, potential investors and ecosystem players, company visits to key industry partners, meetings with corporates, and info sessions about funding opportunities and the latest technology. On top of this, the participants will receive 2 months of business development training and investment readiness mentoring.

The Austrian capital has a long-lasting history in manufacturing innovation. With over 8,500 companies creating over 12,3 billion EUR revenue, the manufacturing sector enables future-oriented jobs and drives growth and innovation in the city. Vienna has also established itself as a Central European startup hotspot with high attractiveness to innovative founders from Austria and abroad.

What can you expect from Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition?

During the stay in Vienna, EIT Manufacturing CLC East provides startup representatives with free office space and offers administrative support for the trip. The costs for traveling to and from Vienna as well as for accommodation will be covered by the organizers.

Additionally, all winners receive two months of startup mentoring from the EIT Manufacturing team, international visibility, and publicity on the communication channels of the organizers. The participation in Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition can be an entry point to the EIT Manufacturing funding opportunities and will allow startups access to the CLC East partner network.

Who can participate in Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition?

Submissions are welcome from the following technology domains: Simulation & Advanced Engineering Tools, Industrial VR/AR, Industrial Robotics, Logistics Tech, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), Predictive Maintenance, Advanced Sensors, Advanced Detection (IR/Noise/etc.), Industrial Cybersecurity, Connectivity and IoT Infrastructure, Data Analytics/AI, and Digital Twins.

Further, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The company must be incorporated in one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
  • The company should not be older than 8 years.
  • The company must have at least 2 team members.
  • Applicants must be beyond the prototype stage and have already successfully launched in their domestic market.

About the Organizers

EIT Manufacturing East GmbH is one of the five Co-Location Centers (CLC) of EIT Manufacturing, a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which is a body of the European Union. The CLC East is located in the Technology Center Seestadt in Vienna, Austria, and serves twelve countries in Central and Eastern Europe: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. CLC East works in close cooperation with its nine full members from industry, research, and academia, and its network partners. EIT Manufacturing CLC East is additionally supported by three Austrian Ministries as well as the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
