CashQuizz: “Every Day Is A New Challenge.”

We spoke to Philipp Wolschner, co-founder of CashQuizz, to find out where the gaming app will be in 7 years and how they make sure to stay ahead of their competition.

Describe CashQuizz in 50 words or less.

“Knowledge should be rewarded.” – At CashQuizz, we handcraft Gaming Apps that offer rewards to fans of mobile games. With CashQuizz we brought “Who wants to be a millionair” on the smartphone and you can win real money just with answering questions.

Why did you decide to pursue your own dreams rather than someone else’s?

All our founders have already started working for other companies at a young age, where they all discovered that working for the dreams of others is not the way they want to live. We are all entrepreneurial and creative people by heart and life is too short for working in a big office on your small table.

Moreover, it is also this feeling of freedom to pursue your own goals that makes working on a startup that much more fun. Of course, starting your own company comes along with huge risks, but nothing worth having in life comes easy.

7 years from now: How did your startup change the world?

7 years are a long time in the app sector. According to our plan the company will have been already sold to one of our serval exit partners. Nevertheless, thanks to CashQuizz the way of playing games will be completely changed. The motivation of players will no longer be just to gain experience in the game or to obtain In-game rewards, but real prices & money. However, it is impossible to know what the future will bring. It is just important to keep up the flexibility of a startup, even when you become a bigger company, in order to react fast and efficient.

In what ways do you measure your success and how do you make sure you don’t lose track?

We try to collect as much feedback as we can in order to improve the UX and UI in our products. A good indicator are the reviews given to us from users of CashQuizz. However, we are only at the beginning of a great story. You can say one of our greatest successes was the finding all founders, because we are from completely different backgrounds but this is exactly what makes our products so special.

Describe your typical working day from coming to the office to leaving it.

Luckily I don’t have a “typical” work day – and this is one of the reasons why I started my own company. Every day is a new challenge and I enjoy the variety of tasks and dynamics that come with that. Especially in our current phase you have to be extremely flexible, because one day you have to do sales calls and marketing and the other day you have to talk with the tax lawyer or investor about the upcoming months.

Bootstrapped or financed: What fuels your startup now and what will in the future?

We get support from our investors, who provide us with their knowledge and funding. However, this is just for the beginning, our goal for next year is to break even and become profitable.

With ferocious competition and a booming trend to build new companies: How do you make sure you don’t get lost in the shuffle?

It always important to keep up with your competition and to have an open eye on their latest updates. However, most of the time we are focusing on what we do and for us the goal is to keep our users happy and motivated. Moreover, it is hard to survive in the mobile industry as every day new competitors pop up, therefore only those with strong endurance and hard will can keep up in this hostile environment. Luckily, we are one of those 🙂

What do you look for in team members?

First of all, it is the willingness to sacrifice something. Because as a startup you don’t stop working on Fridays at 4pm – you work until the work is done and even then you continue working in order to stay ahead of your competitors. Another important attitude is to work hard even if the outcome is uncertain. You never know what the next months will bring.

Why would a talent join your team?

It’s a great place to learn new things and to experiment. Additionally, we also give great benefits to staff including a small stake in the company. Moreover, if you are keen on starting your own company, there is no better way to learn it than seeing  how it is done firsthand. Finally, it goes without saying that we are pretty cool team and it is never boring working with us!
