Io2 Hub Vienna – The Program For IoT Startups Looking To Scale & Go Global

Published on:

Vienna's newest IoT incubator & accelerator Io2 Hub is about to kick off this fall. If you're interested to "scale fast & go global" this might be the program for you. Here's why you should apply until July 31st!

From fall 2016 the former co-working space Talentflow will become Io2 hub – Vienna’s new attraction for IoT startups. The space, founded in 2007 by French expat Isabelle Richard, will be home to at least 20 European startups looking to scale and go global – fast.

Scale Fast, Go Global!

Founder Isabelle Richard has ambitious plans when it comes to her new project: she sees the hub financing up to 300 startups within five years. Richard is on her way to raise 16 mln Euros of funding coming from American, Chinese & Arabic investors with whom she is in negotiation. 10 mln Euros of these will go directly into financing startups, additional money will come from these startups’ revenue and exits.

Smart Products For Mass Production

The incubator & accelerator Io2 hub is focusing on startups in the IoT branche due to the expertise and advice Isabelle Richard can offer in these sectors. Long-standing relationships with Chinese factories and the product development scene have put her in a convincing spot. So, the message for young companies is clear: scale fast, go global!

“The challenge for founders is to think big. They should not be afraid to see the bigger picture and work hard for it”, Isabelle explains. This is also what she expects from startups joining her program: “We’re willing to provide our participants with everything they need: financial, marketing & product development support. In exchange we want them to work hard, our program is definitely not one to settle back”.

Incubation & Acceleration For IoT Startups

Companies taking part in this program will benefit not only from Vienna. As mentioned, the network the hub has reaches to producers in China, making it possible to lower costs and outsource product development & production but also to Silicon Valley, offering the chance to go global.

Isabelle Richard’s overall goal is for Vienna to become the European headquarter for smart hardware. And here’s why you should take an active part in this process and what you can expect:

The program will last 6 to 12 months and bring startups 20.000 to 100.000 Euros of funding. “We understand that each product has its own specification and complexity, which is why we will create a proposal that meets the unique requirements of each startup”, Isabelle assures. Participating companies will be able to utilize all locations, experts & network to achieve their goals.
