Activity Booking Software Company Regiondo Aims To Become Europe’s Leading SaaS Company

Published on:

Regiondo is a Munich-based B2B SaaS startup founded in 2011. Currently, they have more than 7,500 tour and activity providers from 42 countries in their portfolio which are powering their revenue using the all-in-one booking software developed by the company. We spoke to CEO Oliver Nutzel about the Regiondo's future plans:

How would you describe Regiondo in a few words?

Regiondo is an activity booking software. It enables clients to make their tours and activities bookable on their own website. It also offers a back office to manage all bookings and availabilities while connecting to the main distribution channels. In short, we provide all the necessary tools to our partners allowing them to focus on what is important: selling more tours and activities instead of dealing with the booking procedure.

What inspired you to create the booking system? How did it all start?

In early 2011, we started as a consumer-facing marketplace for tours and activities. The goal was to answer a simple question: “What do we do this weekend?” A question we often asked ourselves. After our launch, we experienced instant growth. However, after being on that market for some time, we recognized the demand for an online booking and management tool. That prompted to process, switching from a B2C, to a more B2B focused product for activity suppliers.

For businesses, you offer a one-stop-shop. From booking to analytics and integrations, your software has it covered. Apart from that: what is Regiondo’s key differentiator? What makes you stand out from the crowd?

Definitely, the passionate people that make Regiondo what it is, together with our expertise and dedication to the industry. The future is digital and we want to forge the way our industry evolves.

As a bonus, we are located in the beautiful city of Munich, right in the center of Europe. It’s a city that offers a rich assortment of all sorts of activities. We all like to be active in our leisure time and doing the activities that our customers offer helps us understand their business and issues. We build and evolve Regiondo based on this feedback.

Regiondo’s Team

You describe yourselves as a “progressive team of tech geeks, travel freaks and entrepreneurs”. In what ways does this support you in providing new features to your platform?

We are always on the edge of what is going on in eCommerce, web-marketing, and software – which drives us to this obsession of delivering new, useful and important features. Our international team of 40 people are experts in what they do and they never settle for average results.

We are “Travel freaks” because we analyzed every part of the industry from top to bottom. The Tour & Activities market is currently booming and digital is becoming more and more important than we ever anticipated at out launch in 2011.

The leisure industry is highly competitive with trends like personalized travel and virtual reality leading the way. 10 years from now, what do you think the industry will look like for service providers?

Trends come and go but one thing will not change for sure: it is always about the guest/customer. The tools will change but it will always be about providing the customer with a memorable experience. And we will be there to facilitate this experience.

We are already a customer-centric company and we know that we must even more focus on the customer!

What is the biggest challenge that your company has faced so far?

Being a software company requires dealing with the complexities of ever-changing technology and regulations. We offer an all-in-one software that makes the day-to-day lives of our customers very easy. But the main challenge to date was explaining our solution in a simple way to small and medium-sized companies. Luckily, the industry has evolved. Digitalization has reached almost everyone and so has its appreciation among our clients.

You’re currently active in 42 countries with 7500+ customers. What’s your vision for Regiondo? Where will this journey take you?

Our long-term vision is to become the leading SaaS company in Europe. We want to forge the market, evolve the way operators do business and enable their success.

Phocuswright predicts that the Tour and Activities market will reach up to $183 billion by 2020 and we want to help companies uncover the untapped potential of this massive market.

What’s next for Regiondo?

We want to grow our team in order to strengthen our international presence and we’re always on the lookout for passionate people.
We will continue to be the trusted partner in the leisure industry and build the best booking software for our customers.

What’s one piece of advice you can give to fellow founders for their startup?

If you see an opportunity with a huge added value for your market, do not hesitate to pivot. Remember, “actions speak louder than words”.
