StartUs Presents: Do apps

In today's interview, we present Do apps, a startup from Luxembourg. Laura Mathieu shares how this service provider started out and what it can do for you!

Describe Do apps in 50 words or less.

Do apps is a structure that supports companies in their strategic needs all through conception and development of their web projects.
We realize audit, expert mission, team coaching and development.

Why did you decide to pursue your own dreams rather than someone else’s?

Because before starting “Do apps” we experienced the frustration of not being able to supervise projects the way we wanted. For us, customer advice is extremely important. We want to offer the most suitable technology for the project, it is essential for us, even if advising a technology that we don’t control (we have some excellents partners in whom we have confidence). Our goal is not to sell our services at any cost but to be able to deliver a service and optimal code.

In what ways do you measure your success and how do you make sure you don’t lose track?

We started with a major customer and a very big project that occupied the team for several months. So, it has only been a few months that we’re approaching new customers. People are very excited about our approach to their project and the returns are very positive. We are also very active in the web community, we are present at many events. It allows us to meet many people and constantly revise our vision of the web.

Follow the new technologies, listen to our customers and don’t sacrifice the quality of the product – these are all essential for our startup to work.

Describe your typical working day from coming to the office to leaving it.

There is no typical day in a startup. You have to manage everything, paperwork, accounting, human resources, appointments, emails, code … You may start the day being sure which task you will work on, and in the end do something completely different to meet the needs of your customers. Our only certainty is that we start at 9 am but we never know what time we finish.

There is a very exhilarating side to working in a startup, and it prevents monotony!

With ferocious competition and a booming trend to build new companies: How do you make sure you don’t get lost in the shuffle?

We communicate with many people and participate in many events to let us know what the competition is up to. In a small country like Luxembourg, knowing a lot of people is essential! You never know when a customer might come to you, everyone may need a web application one day.

7 years from now: How did your startup change the world?

Our desire is to be able to offer a lighter version of the project to our clients, one that is quicker to perform and which comes faster on the market, and to see how the users react.
If all goes well, we will continue to evolve the project and add features. However, if the return is not favorable, there is always time to rotate the idea and test other ways.
We want to avoid projects at astronomical prices on many months of development that might not work in the end.

We hope that in seven years, the projects and ideas of Do apps will be a huge success story!

What do you look for in team members?

We are looking for people who are passionate about their work. A team member of Do apps must be willing to learn, to grow and to focus on the quality of work that they’re producing. And if in addition they are nice, it’s even better!

Why would a talent join your team?

Because our team of experts always surrounds our new recruits! They are entrusted with technical challenges that would turn a lot of passionate developers pale with envy!

What was your most memorable moment so far?

The first hiring of a junior member. We are a team of experts that aims to share knowledge and to train young raw talents to make them the experts of tomorrow.

What advice would you give fellow founders for their startup?

Meet and speak with some founders of startups and register their advice.
Don’t think because your idea or your project is innovative, the way will be easy.
And most importantly: always stay positive. Some days will be really hard and with no end, but some other days are incredible. Just be prepared to live through many different emotions!
