Richard Branson’s Most Inspirational Quotes For Founders

Published on:

Richard Branson is one of the best-known entrepreneurs on the globe. No doubt that he can share insights with young founders to inspire & motivate them. Here's some of his best advice:

Spending too much time thinking about that one perfect business idea? Afraid of failure? Feeling insecure and dealing with insecurity? Good! You should be feeling all these things, but don’t take my word for it! Look at what other great entrepreneurs have gone through until they managed to become an authoritative voice in their industry.

Richard Branson’s Way To The Top

Richard Branson, investor, philanthropist and, mostly known as a tycoon in the business world, is the founder of Virgin Group, a congregation of more than 400 companies. Of course, saying it out loud does sound quite overwhelming, as this is the pure embodiment of success, but few people really know how he got onto the peak of the mountain.

To help you get an idea, here is the apparently short recipe: at least 30 business ideas tried over the years, along with a strong set of principles! And no – it’s not a joke!

30 of the most random, yet filled with potential business ideas, from selling Christmas trees, publishing a student magazine, opening a record store, rebuilding a gay nightclub or starting his own airline company to selling wedding dresses and personal finance services, opening a train service, starting a cosmetics line, or opening a blood bank, this man has tried them all!

And to top it off, now he is preoccupied with launching space tourism! If he is not a real businessman, then I don’t know what he is!

With such a wide experience behind, be sure that there are many valuable things to learn from him.

To what can he owe his success? Maybe it has something to do with the way he sees the business world, as a whole:

Business opportunities are like buses; there’s always another one coming.

Talk about maintaining high levels of optimism!

And if you are not convinced yet, here is another one of his life guiding principles:

If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.

Looking for some more inspiration? Here you go:

#1 On Success And Failure

Well, I think that there’s a very thin dividing line between success and failure. And I think if you start a business without financial backing, you’re likely to go the wrong side of that dividing line.

#2 On Motivation

My biggest motivation? Just to keep challenging myself. I see life almost like one long university education that I never had – every day I’m learning something new.

#3 On Delegating Tasks

As much as you need a strong personality to build a business from scratch, you also must understand the art of delegation. I have to be good at helping people run the individual businesses, and I have to be willing to step back. The company must be set up so it can continue without me.

#4 On Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is about turning what excites you in life into capital, so that you can do more of it and move forward with it.

Any successful entrepreneur knows that time is more valuable than money itself.

#5 On Employees

If you run a business, put on top your employees, then your customers and then your shareholders.

Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough, so they don’t want to.

Unquestionably, you have to admit that his words are truly inspiring and that they represent the manner in which any business should be run. Are you familiar with any other of Richard Branson’s business principles? If yes, then do share them with us!
