European Youth Award: Putting Experience Into Practice

Published on:

From November 30th to December 3rd Austria's Graz will host the European Youth Award (EYA) Festival dedicated to Digital Drivers. We'll let you know what to expect:

Established by Prof. Peter A. Bruck, honorary chairman of the International Center for New Media, in 2012, the European Youth Award (EYA) is a leading pan-European competition honouring excellence in the use of Internet and mobile applications for social empowerment. Conducted under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, EYA seeks to motivate young people under the age of 33 to produce socially-valuable digital projects addressing the goals defined by the Council of Europe and Europe 2020.

D(r)ive Deep Digital!

This year’s EYA winners have already been chosen & without a doubt they’ve done a great job convincing the jury of their creative and socially valuable project. By using Open Source software got feedback & a project analysis to gain fresh ideas from another perspective. Students from 12 international Universities from Macedonia to the Netherlands are involved in analyzing and enchancing the EYA winning projects from October up to the EYA Festival from November 30 to December 3, 2016.

This year 90 students are involved in creating exciting proposals for the winning projects of #EYA16 – they exchange ideas and know-how in virtual conferences and apply theories to the winning projects. In 13 groups students analyze one of the winning projects online, develop basic concepts for further development and present their results at EYA’s Festival exhibition format.

Working together with international colleagues on a practical task in a virtual environment means good training and application of topics learned for students. What’s more – they create helpful feedback for the winners. EYA actively connects students world-wide through this international student online project as well as the festival.

The four-day long festival will see keynotes on social entrepreneurship, brainstormings on healthy life, smart learning, connecting cultures, going green and active citizenchip as well as campfires held by international entrepreneurs & mentors (see EYA’s website for the full program). It’s about learning – and learning from the best!

Started as a prototype project, the international student online project has become part of EYA’s core
and is growing year by year. Take this chance to explore Europe’s most vibrant and lively digital community. The EYA Festival connects the next generation of e-Content creators, producers and designers with reputable leaders from the multimedia-sector and potential investors.
